Overview

Trattoria da Carmine, nestled in the charming Via del Bosco of Trieste, offers an authentic taste of Italian coastal cuisine in a warm, traditional trattoria setting. The intimate space invites diners to unwind and savor dishes that celebrate the bounty of the sea and the simplicity of Italian flavors.

The menu stands out with its exquisite selection of pasta, especially the Spaghetti Scoglio, Spaghetti Alle Vongole, and Linguine Con Gli Scampi. These dishes highlight fresh seafood paired with perfectly al dente pasta, embodying the essence of the Adriatic coast. Noteworthy is the Pasta Con Coda E Ganasce, reflecting a creative twist on classic homemade pasta that showcases regional culinary heritage. For those seeking variety, options like Sopa de Tomate Y Mejillones and Sardinas Empanadas provide a flavorful exploration beyond pasta.

Service here enhances the experience, marked by genuine hospitality and attentiveness. Guests frequently commend the staff’s readiness to accommodate dietary preferences, such as crafting vegetarian dishes that are just as rich and satisfying. The convivial atmosphere fosters a sense of community, where locals and travelers alike share tables and laughter, bridging language gaps with warmth and mutual appreciation for good food.

Trattoria da Carmine is especially suited for those who prize authenticity over culinary pretense. Whether you arrive after exploring Trieste or seek refuge from more touristy spots, this gem offers a meal that’s both comforting and memorable. The wine selection complements the food thoughtfully, and the homemade desserts, like their celebrated tiramisu, provide a perfect ending to the meal.

In sum, Trattoria da Carmine is not simply a restaurant but a genuine slice of Italian life. Its focus on fresh, quality ingredients and heartfelt service crafts an experience that resonates well beyond the plate, inviting diners to return time and again.

Great service and food. Told the owner my son was vegetarian and he said no worries he'd get the cook to make something special. It was great pasta with zucchini, asparagus and much more. My wife had spaghetti with red tuna and I had the special 'spaghetti Barcola' with a tomato sauce and little fish (smaller the sardines). Delicious. Drinks very reasonably priced.

What a find, amazing food, amazing people, staff extremely helpful. we came off a cruise ship and looked for somewhere off the tourist trail and did we strike gold, we met fantastic diners and even got bought a bottle of wine from one. Antpasta was delicious, the pasta cooked to perfection and ragu was divine. The tiramisu was heaven all hand made, Price wise fantastic. If I'm near in the future I'll be there.

A true gem if you are looking for an authentic Italian experience. I did try and make reservation for same day and it said they would respond via email. As it became later in the day with no response I just called and the gentleman was so nice and said yes come in. We arrived to find a small cozy location and be greeted by a warm and friendly gentleman and others who worked there. The food specials were delicious and we laughed with locals even though we only spoke English. I would definitely return here

Great place for having authentic homemade food. We ask for Spaghetti Di Mare and Insalata di Pólipo, plus a refreshing vibrant white wine. No pictures of the profiterol, was looking too good for keeping down the temptation, so...

Such a nice place! Absolutely loved the gnocchi. The owner was one of the nicest servers we’ve met so far. This restaurant really made you feel like you’re eating at someone’s home. You should definitely come here!
